It was going to be tough enough to score one run on Chapman. The risk of loading the bases and potentially giving up those extra runs was worth it to face Judge instead.

There's no doubt Judge is struggling mightily.

You don't load the bases in a 1 run game in the 9th inning.
On top of the fact that Judge is a massively dangerous hitter, you'd put tremendous pressure on your pitcher and catcher to avoid a wild pitch or passed ball.

You load the bases for a guy like Judge and you effectively insure that he's going to see a shyt load of fastballs, because if that slider or curveball hit the dirt....
