Nate/Payton were nasty on defense too, even though they did not win a championship together. 90s Sonics were one of the greatest what if teams. What if they actually hired a competent coach and what if they didn't do bullshyt like trying to pick bum ass Jim McIlvaine over paying Shawn Kemp money he deserved. They likely could have been a great franchise throughout the 90s.

Zeke they had to hide him on defense a little bit, Dumars was just that great of a defender.

Jrue is gonna be a 2 time champ, multiple all defense. So regardless of him still playing, his legacy is just as set as someone who retired 30 years ago.

And Derrick white now has 2 all defense selections and a chip. Some —-most—-of the 2ns best defensive guys in these pairings have no accolades

I don't know why this got so much daps. Zeke was a good defender but he wasn't near the level of defender as Dumars or many of the names been posted here. He never even made All Defense one time in his career.... Guards like Fat Lever, Denis Johnson, Alvin Robertson, Mo Cheeks, MJ, even John Stockton was makin All Defense over him in his prime while everyone knew Pistons were the dominant defense of the league from 87-92 yet he never sniffed All Defense (while Dumars was perennial All Defense) and was maybe the worst defender of the Bad Boys main rotation even though he was a good defender.

Kind of like Chauncey on their Pistons, good defender but not nowhere in greatest defensive talks. Jrue and White both made All Defense same season I don't know how many times a pair of guard teammates did that but it can't be many. Both have stamped multiple selections, have clamped star guards in the playoffs with clutch defensive plays in playoff games Jrue has some flat iconic playoff defensive moments.

Great list. I think it gotta be Glove and Nate for me. They BOTH finished top 10 in DPOY voting in the same season multiple times in the mid-90s and GP even won DPOY in 96. One of the craziest stats ever that rarely brought up is Nate leading the league in steals while playing 26 MPG and coming off the bench. That shyt don't even make sense if that nikka was playin regular starter minutes he'd have been averaging 4-5 steals a game but was still at 3 SPG... Off the bench. Wild and he was the worse defender of his backcourt.
