2020 has low key been the best year for hip hop in the last 10 years. Someone prove me wrong.

damn. shyt is a dope album to me. production is on point and I felt his bars were on point as well, just a little different from his early style.

A little different and his voice sounds more seasoned. But definitely an improvement from 03 mixtape JR imo.

It’s a handful of dope songs on here. Really surprised by some of the production. JR Writer sounds different than what he used to, but not bad. He actually sounds even further from his OG flow than he did on The Upstage. Still, some really good songs with the obvious ones being the 38 Spesh and Royce tracks. Still Got It, Can I, and Pedigree are nice too.

FACTS! Quarantine got nikkas sharpening their sword and taking time with their craft, sequencing and vision. It’s been TOO MUCH heat this year.

But from the intro, using the North Star sample I was caught off guard. Son still a punchline rapper but not in the corny Cassidy way.


Rocking over boom bap and samples, but not sounding dated. Not one trap hi hat or triple time flow to be found. This is how NY punchline Hip Hop is done in 2020.
