Joy is the story of a family across four generations and the woman who rises to become founder and matriarch of a powerful family business dynasty.

Trailer doesn't give me any idea of what it's about or where it is headed but Russell's movies are generally alright even if critics will surely overrate the fukk out of this like they did before with Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

I saw the cast and was just underwhelmed. Good thing this comes out during Oscar screening season though....

Why does Russell keep casting Jennifer Lawrence in roles that seem like they should be going to more "seasoned" actresses?
THIS! Stop trying to make her older than she is dammit!

Russell really wants that Oscar for Best Director. This is getting tiring. Oh and it's coming out on Xmas? Yeah it's gonna get a ton of nominations before audiences even get to see it. Same shyt happen with American Hustle.

silver linings was good. american hustle was horribly overrated, im glad the academy felt the same way

Watching Winter's Bone years ago, I never thought Jennifer Lawrence would become the cool actress to hate on the internets:patrice:I haven't seen Silver Linings Playbook or American Hustle. Probably wont ever see this. I have no beef with her though:yeshrug:Robert DeNiro has had the weirdest acting career I can think of

I like Jennifer Lawrence and think she is the best actress working in Hollywood under 30 but these roles are obviously written for an actress a bit older than JLaw's 24.
And Hollywood is full of capable and talented actresses in that 35-40ish age range:
Charlize Theron
Jessica Chastain
Amy Adams
Hillary Swank
Vera Farmiga
Kate Winslet
Jennifer Connelly
Claire Danes
Rachel McAdams
Reese Witherspoon

I liked Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle :manny:

O'Russell usually delivers very entertaining films. I'm in :manny:

This will get a shyt ton of award season hype, it's the only way it makes any decent money considering it will be out in Christmas.
