@Loose... my nikka was this really thread worthy though?

Who cared about this game? And how can a DLC only game bankrupt a company?

I thought the point of DLC only games was to minimize cost. The devs/creators of this game are idiots to think some niche "artistic" boring game like this would line their pockets.

Journey was a beautiful game but I felt the same way about Braid, games can be art but you gotta have good gameplay first and foremost and charging 15 bucks is too expensive a point of entry.

I just looked that sh!t up on Youtube. :what: Journey PS3 Gameplay - YouTube

Is that medieval Iraq? Sh!t looks like a training simulator for terrorists.

I MEAN, its not bad. but looking at that demo doesnt make me want to buy even a $15.00 game. just because you change the little things into small sheets. doesnt mean i dont know that those things are nothing more then ORBS from Crackdown?
oooo if i get more orbs i can jump higher. uhhh thats crackdown.

crackdown orbs:
kills are usually improved by gaining experience orbs, which are released from defeated enemies. The type of orb released varies, depending on how the player dispatched the foe; for instance, killing an enemy with a gun will earn Firearms orbs, while running them over with a vehicle earns Driving orbs. More powerful enemies release more experience orbs. However, Agility orbs are awarded differently: they can be earned by either climbing buildings and seeking them on rooftops, or by killing an enemy from a high altitude. The player can also compete in "rooftop races"—a race through a series of waypoints across the rooftops of Pacific City—or car races to gain Agility and Driving orbs, respectively.[3] A few special orbs, well-hidden, increase all character abilities when found.[3] A final way to collect orbs is by earning Xbox Live Achievements, which rewards the player with orbs from every skill category. Each skill has five levels—beginning with zero stars, and ending with four—with a numeric gauge on the display to indicate how close the player is to the next level.

So this is one of those threads where despite a game being critically acclaimed, it "sucks" because it didn't bank the devs millions of dollars??

What's the point of this?:shaq2:

I think this is a case where the critics enjoyed the game but the majority of the public didn't. Due to its artistic scope the game was severely overrated by reviewers. When it came time to actualy play the game, gamers just didn't see the appeal. I played the demo and I liked it, but just like flower I've never wanted to purchase the game and finish it, I keep telling myself I will, but I just never have the desire to do so. The fact that the company went bankrupt is a testament to difficulty and high developing costs the ps3 posses. It's not a very developer freindly platform, and stories like this prove that fact.

I played the demo and knew right away that Journey was not for me. I don't know if the experience of the game as a whole was good or not since I only played a little bit of it, but we need games like this though for balance in the gaming industry. Another more artistic game that I thought was great was Heavy Rain as well as The Walking Dead. I am glad that these two games sold well so we can get more story and art driven games in the future
