my point is though that all these genetic clusters mean is a historical period of heavier interbreeding between a certain population. The only REAL thing that separates a Han chinese dude from like a Korean with different ethnicity is that at some point their antecedents started breeding continuously within a certain demographic of similar people

That's not the REAL difference at all.

The real difference is that Chinese people interbred with an older population, that the Koreans did not. Race depends on the mix of Neolithic, archaic humans and paleolithic.

Chinese are brought closer to South East Asians. It's because there is a gradual increased admixture with the older Black population that goes southward from Korean to indonesia.

That's really what race is, in my opinion. Race is a continuation of regional hominid populations that goes back to homoerectus, if not further.

In other words, you have arbitrarily chosen where to delimit a particular genetic population, as you yourself admit. You can't escape the subjectivity (sociality) of human categorization. The genetic landscape is real, but any attempt to carve it up into completely distinct territories is subjective.

We're not disagreeing; what I'm saying is that if those chinese that had interbred with a particular older gene pool had migrated and interbred with the korean population as well, then the genetic heritage of that older population would be divided between the two groups. In that way it's not that different from something like nationality or religion in that who you choose to breed with is an arbitrary physical or identity grouping. A 'lower caste' person in india will have a lot of DNA similarity with his caste but the choice of whether to marry within that caste continuously or mix with other populations was essentially arbitrary

There are clear groups in that data plot, and the different groups are clearly stagger-stepped towards the Older population.

An Alien from outer-space could see that.

Of course it is. Like I said, there is a real landscape. But it's not a landscape of clearly distinct groups, only of fuzzy aggregates. Even the map itself chooses to delimit ancestry according to particular genetic markers, so the choice to go with these particular aggregates are secondary to that decision. Human decision remains operative even at the most fundamental level.

You want to label fuzzy aggregates into distinct entities, which is just impossible.

There are distinctions though; which, often times, are clear to the naked eye. If a person spends enough time with Chinese and Koreans, the possibility that said person can spot out the difference between the two, on a solely visual perspective, is not out the realm of possibility.

Sure, and that belongs to the real territory, but again, grouping people by phenotype is just another subjective way of categorizing human populations according to one set of genetic markers.

If you go back a hundred thousand years, then of course, it becomes much more difficult to make distinctions.

But if we're talking about a thousand years, the genetics clusters are much more distinguished.

Stereotypes exist for a reason, and although it may be politically incorrect to subscribe to them, it doesn't mean they don't have a certain level of accuracy.

Just look at the distinctions the black populations make amongst themselves, in an area where there is a certain level of interaction between African-Americans, Caribbean-Blacks, African-Blacks, etc, etc. To the outside observer, they might all look the same, but those that exist within the communities know there are differences cultural and genetic.

It does speak to your statement of territory as well.

Well this shouldn't offend Israelites since we already have established that genetic composition is nothing in the long-run. the 21st century is all about social characteristics and regional boundaries....
