I'm also not so sanguine on the idea that this is the end of Hawley. I think establishment Repubs are the ones who suffer the most from this insurrection. They're the ones caught between a rock and a hard place, getting flanked on both sides. I'm pretty sure MAGA freaks are now a sine qua non for any Republican national election victory, and I trust the establishment base to come back around on Hawley more than I do the MAGA base to turn out for Sasse. The current bi-partisan establishment condemnation of Hawley may, in fact, end up solidifying his MAGA bonafides, and 4 years is a long enough time for Hawley's transgressions to be forgotten by the establishment conservatives. This is especially true if the Democrats aren't able to actually make positive, meaningful change with the mandate they've been given. Trump gained 11 million votes from 2016 to 2020, the cancer is metastisizing.
