I disagree with Jordan because you don't know people's stories, he could've at least seen if the homeless person wanted something to eat

Yea he is 100% correct

but it doesn’t mean he has the mental capacity, awareness, habits, hygiene, or any other skills to get hired by McDonald’s:yeshrug:

But I only give spare change to black women asking. White men :camby:
Do you give spare change to homeless Black men and children?

If I was Charles, I would have slapped him in the face if he did that to me :yeshrug:
First off, it's my money, I can do with it what I want. And second, your miserable privileged ass needs to learn some humility

I’m the director of a couple of these programs so I know what’s available for them and the funding issues. And I didn’t say they were lazy. I said they are choosing to be out there. What’s more important to the ones on the street is the freedom to be there and not have to do anything they don’t want to do. About 4 times a week, I go to Chinatown in the underpass by Canal and Cermak or 18th and Halsted and offer some of them who look like they need it the most, a clean bed in a home, with food. Some clothes, a hot shower and a chance to get food card, ID and a job placement or school program. All paid for…

They’ll turn it down because they “don’t want nobody telling them what to do” or “telling me when I gotta be back” or telling me I can’t smoke ok the house” etc. Instead, they’d rather be on the street. Doing what they want. I’ve gotten dudes jobs not just through my program but personal connections. My girl at the time was a bartender at Tim O Tooles. Got a guy a job bussing tables and she said he quit on her because he “ain’t with all this on the clock shyt”. By the end of the week we bumped into him by Union Station sweating like bytch on a 30 degree day, high as shyt. That was his choice. He could’ve stayed in my building even if he quit. He just didn’t want the structure.

Right now, if there’s ANY coli breh that needs a place to stay, I got a bed for you that’s paid until June 2022 if needed. You just have to attend my meetings at least once a day, don’t bring drugs or alcohol in my building, respect the 10pm curfew and turn a form in each week. I got you.

I say that to say there’s a lack of funding in plenty of areas but there’s with housing in Chicago, I huge city, there’s more empty beds than there are abled people (not mentally ill) fill them. Shelters, halfway houses, recovery homes etc. I have almost 10 beds right now. I got better shyt to do than driving around to homeless camps trying to help a nikka that ain’t trying to help himself. But I do it anyway.

Mike has a killer Instinct, a crazy drive to succeed, something a lot of folks don't have. Not surprised he'd say something like that and I agree with him.

It was a homeless guy working at my job (Amazon) he smelled so bad and he'd put liquor in his water bottle and drink throughout the day :francis:

When did this site get so many Republicans on it:dahell:
I feel like this shyt only happened in the last 2 years

In the last 40 years cities all over the country defunded many mental health institutions and many people were left to the streets who really shouldn’t have been there.

This idea that everyone who is homeless is lazy is a bullshyt conservative talking point to deflect from the fact that there are many people in America who hate funding and supporting any social programs for people who need it because they see others as beneath them.

A lot you fukkin clowns on this board are telling on yourselves.

Y'all sound like grown ass babies who can't fit in normal sized pants. Loser mentality:mjlol:

A few things:

1. why is it a shock that most black peoples are conservative? Hello? The church? MLK was a republican. As the saying goes, most black people are socially conservative and fiscally democrats.

2. people saying millionaires like Jordan and Barkley need to give back, why? Their talent and hard work got them to where they are, not charity. They’re not obligated to be benevolent. That’s what taxes (should be) are for.

Of course, we know rich people find loopholes to pay as little to no tax as possible but in an ideal world, they’d be taxed a “fair” amount.

Now I don’t think it’s far to judge Jordan on a throw away comment but let’s be real, there are a lot of pan handlers who have a made a career from “begging.”

It’s unfortunate because the ones who genuinely need help get overlooked but we’ve all seen the homeless guy spend that same money on drugs or alcohol. They’ll look at you with disdain if you buy them food when all they wanted is the money.

This isn’t a “pull your boot straps up” rant but stop slating people who are rich for not giving back like they’re obligated too.
This actually happened to me years ago outside of Walmart. A homeless dude was outside asking for money for food because he was hungry. Security was getting angry at him and cussing him out because he wouldn't leave. I felt bad for the dude so after buying what I needed I bought him a big mac meal at the McDonald's in the store and gave it to him. Even after giving him the food he was mad because I didn't give him some cash. I was like you said you were hungry so I got you some food. He was like I wanted money for food! I was like what difference those it make? I gave you food so you could eat! :dahell: It really pissed me off that he was angry that I gave him food instead of money. If I have spare change I'll give it to a homeless person but sometimes these folks get real entitled asking for something! :francis:

These ”resources” are way underfunded and nonexistent in alot of places. You have to rehabilitate the homeless. It isn’t as simple as putting a spatula in their hand.

It’s estimated that we are short billions in the fight of poverty. This isn’t just a lazy person issue.

Breh there is so much corruption that the money barely trickles to actually help the homeless. Charities and organizations that are meant to be helping the homeless have been misusing funds. The execs and slum lords are eating good.
