I'm gonna assume that Jon is in fight shape pretty much most of the time..especially during this suspension.

Jon Jones: 2 Years of Training - I'd Compete With Best in Boxing

In past interviews, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (22-1 in MMA) discussed the idea of taking part in boxing.

The 31-year-old MMA fighter was a major force from the moment he entered the pro ranks in April of 2008. There are many who regard Jones as one of the greatest fighters ever of his respective sport.

Fighting for the first time since July of 2017, Jones is coming back on December 29th when he faces Alexander Gustafsson in a rematch at UFC 232 in Las Vegas.

Regarding a potential jump in the boxing ring, Jones believes that he would require at least two years of dedicated training - which he feels would prepare him to face the top names.

“When I started doing MMA, I found myself in the UFC about nine months after my first practice - so I’m aware that I have a mind for fighting. I have a lot of faith and confidence in myself," Jones said to the JacksonWink podcast.

“I believe that if I were to hire the right people to be around me, that’s maybe four boxing coaches..... that’s what the guys at the highest levels [have in place]. [I would] hire guys to come in here and we spend two years focusing on boxing and only boxing. I believe I’d be able to compete with the best in the world.”

Jones had previously mentioned the idea of facing IBF, IBO, WBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (22-0, 21 KOs) - but he realizes that the Olympic gold medal winner would have a significant advantage if they met in the ring.

“I would imagine he would have the upper hand big time,” Jones said of Joshua. “He’s spent so much time throwing hands and that’s his passion.”

fukk no.

These dudes are severely underestimating how skilled boxers are and how piss poor MMA “boxing” is comparatively. You can become a world champ in MMA with Masters Degree level grappling, bachelors level wrestling and GED level boxing. Even bums in boxing across the board have PhD’s with their hands on some entry level shyt.

I love and respect both sports but stop it slime.

True that, I remember him saying he could fight and beat Wladimir Klitschko a few years back.

Wlad at any stage of his career would flatten him. I think they’re believing their own hype because of the “MMA is a real fight” narrative. They have more weapons but boxers have honed their one weapon impeccably.
