Absolutely.

Todd Phillips basically made a movie about a retard and hid it behind sparse batman connections to sell movie tickets and it worked, brilliant troll job. Worth a watch for the cinematography and some great scenes from Pheonix but still pretty slow, derivative and now seemingly going against the theme it laid out.

The intent was to sneak a 'real film' about said retard into theaters behind comic book movie fanfare without ever really letting "Joker" be THE Joker. Making a sequel, adding Harley into the mix while still being determined to be a 'comic book movie' for people who hate or are tired of comic book movies sounds like a bad idea. Yet I'm still going to check it out for those elements I enjoyed from the first and just to see how this musical thing will play out.

Sweeney Todd (which I like) is the best possible outcome I can envision for something like this.

A Joker musical >>>>>> the standard average dull shyt people go crazy for
This just became interesting. The first movie was dull imo but I like how left field this is. I'd take a musical over the generic and formulaic content that Marvel pumps out.

CBMs don't have to be dumbed down all the time
I agree. I just dont think this flick is a "comic book movie". Arthur is no Joker, he's just living a fantasy. The Wayne shyt thrown in was just a way to give it that connection but it didnt work imo. Phoenix is great, but the movie is a bore. And this planned sequel sounds wack.
