went from being about a black person who knew their history to the crap it is now...

and i gotta wonder how the hell it happened :francis:
The same way the term BLM went from a simple idea that implied that this country, not Black people, treat Black people as if our lives don't matter...and was met with resistance, and was then coopted and turned into an organization that has NOTHING to do with what Kaep was initially talking about

Woke became an insult because these folks will dryhump hardships, while repeating solutions for root causes, to then later ignore/downplay/abandon/tolerate/encourage the same root causes when beneficial

-bubu affordable housing is a human right while bragging about being a homeowner in the most expensive liberal cities

-bubu "culture shock," is used to justify why Biden made the right decision to stop any democracy initiatives in Afgahnistan, then it's bubu we need to bring the Afghan refugees over to America, regardless of the culture shock consequences experienced by EU countries when they did it

Above the fray.
I gotta be honest, woke for me is nothing more than consumer based consciousness. It’s at best a beginning stage for gaining your knowledge of self. If you claiming woke I’m looking at you like a high schooler or college freshmen.
"Woke" never develops beyond surface level awareness or consciousness.

It's not a beginning stage, it's the final form that people will reach.

Well that’s why I said “at best” because I’ve seen a few people become genuinely conscious from it. But for the most part it’s something like makeup for the personality. Adding that wrinkle makes you look more cultured or enlightened. Your being sold the same exclusiveness as a pair of J’s or a Hellcat.

What does this even mean? Are you saying that everyone, including yourself, never gets beyond surface level awareness? Or are you saying.....?

"Woke" by its very root, is clearly a starting point. You have to have awakened from something else, from an unconscious state, so it admits that you're coming from nothing to something. But I don't see why that assumes you will never grow more aware/conscious unless you just automatically assume negative connotations.

McWhorter can be over the top absurd lol but I like some of his pieces. I like his linguistic stuff more than the race politics one, mostly.

I never use the term woke, and I do feel uncomfortable both when used ironically, and unironically, it just feels out of date, and co opted.
