I saw a couple interviews and theories on that. One said because he disrespected the brother on the yard and dude beat him up. A detective said on a different interview I remember that Gotti was paying the AB for protection, but when he felt that they were no longer needed cuz he had enough mob dudes with him, the AB paid Water Johnson to put the beats on Gotti. Gotti ended up crawling back to the AB for protection and gave them business. He also wanted Johnson hit, but the administration found out about it and moved him to another prison. He still got stabbed in that prison too but I don't know if it was connected. He survived.
