It can be very dangerous because some fighters will still cut weight and go into the fight dehydrated (fighting dehydrated increases the likelihood of getting brain damage and head trauma).
yea but my point is having the weigh in on the day of the fights would stop the majority of weight cutting

Is it really an advantage anymore though since so many fighters are doing it? If you DON'T cut weight you're the oddball these days.

Instead of cutting to the upper limit of the weightclass you want to fight in, I think you should be in the one above, locked in, with a certain range you can fall into. e.g. Jose Aldo fights at 145lbs but he clearly doesn't weigh that little. So he would be fighting at a weight that allows him to fluctuate between 165 and 170, which is likely his prime gym shape. Basically welterweight. Tests for signs of weight cutting would be implemented so fighters couldn't still pull the weight cutting fukkery.

OR

weigh fighters more regularly and only allow them to cut 5lbs max.

So many fights would've, should've and could've been SO much better without the cuts.
Imagine fights like Mendez vs Aldo (with bang ludwig coaching) at full weight.

With same day weigh ins, some fighters will still cut weight.
Folks know the dangers. I believe they only do it knowing they have a day to rehydrate. I doubt many fighters would try cutting excessive weight having to weigh in a couple of hours before the fight. But who knows?

There are many fighters willing to go to extreme lengths to cut weight (like cutting weight from a cut 220-230 pounds to 170 pounds or cutting from a cut 170 pounds down to 135 pounds). Although, it would deter some fighters, many will still be willing to go through extreme weight cuts with same day weigh ins.

Maybe. But athletes can't excel in that condition. Fighters using that tactic under those conditions would be at a major disadvantage, nulifying the reason for doing it.
