It’s not him it’s the players :laff:

The players have a resume of beating Embiid multiple times, beating Giannis multiple times, beating Durant and Kyrie, beating Butler last year.

What's Mazzulla's resume? They are about to lose to a team with far inferior talent and that never happened under Udoka or Stevens.

He's learning on the job. He's a young breh. He's not going to get everything exactly right every step of the way.

What's funny to me is how folks are acting like this team is playing any differently than they did in the Finals last season. This is who they are; they're a volatile team. They'll look like world beaters one game and then the polar opposite the next. That won't be changing anytime soon.
I will agree. I saw some amazing things from Coach Joe in the Hawks series but he was badly outcoached by Quin. That said, when he puts it all together, I expect him to be like Coach Spo and become an all time great at some point. The ability is there.

How could you possibly dumb the argument down to this?

You're completely removing all context of what happens during these respective postseasons.

Never mind the fact that the Celtics lost to inferior talent in the Finals last season under Udoka, and lost to inferior talent in 2018 under Stevens. I don't know how you as a Celtics fan have been watching this group for the last half a decade and still can't see this is their identity. A head coach isn't going to magically change who they innately are, otherwise, we would've seen it under Stevens or Udoka. Ultimately, the bad version of themselves have always reared their ugly heads in the end.

The same issues with this squad we're seeing now were present back in 2018 (even 2017).

I didn't say they don't make mental mistakes all the time. I've been saying that all along. They've never been this bad. They've never gotten their doors blown off by inferior talent. The defense was never as bad as it was in the 3rd quarter of game 1. The subs have never made less sense. Mazzulla brought in Pritchard in the first half of game 1 (after not seeing much time in the rotation for months). The Heat immediately target him. So what does Joe do? He brings him back in. How can a coach be so clueless. Last night he's allowing Williams to get picked apart by Butler every possession instead of switching that up. Clueless Joe.
