This is a tough debate because like it or not at some point a QB has to have the accolades. It's not Marino's fault really. He got to a Super Bowl early but the 49ers stomped them out. Then he never got back. Never had a great running game. Team failed him plenty of times.

What he was doing early on putting up those type of numbers in the mid 80s was unprecedented. It wasn't a situation like now where everyone is putting up those numbers.

Another debate is Favre vs. Young. There was always this narrative that Favre was the best of that early 90s to late 90's era. Young was the better QB and it's not close.
Yet Favre shytted on Young every time they faced eachother including the playoffs.

Expose yourself as not having watched 'The Catch II' brehs... :wow:

Young was the more mobile and dangerous runner as well as more accurate and smarter. fukk Favre.
Miss me with that bullshyt. Rice fumbled that drive. Refs gave u that crappy catch. Talking exposing yourself :camby:

Young was trash vs the packers in his career. 6 TDs to
12 ints. And one lucky ass win the refs gave him. (1-9)

Favre >>>

Young career QB rating 96.8 - led the league 6 times

Favre career QB rating 86.0 - never led the league

Young was a dangerous runner too.

There's no debate who the better player was. :mjlol: Favre has more yards and TDs cause he had more attempts and hung around longer

I like that Montana brought the “BOAT” convo

I’ll say Mahomes is the current BOAT. Either him or A-Rod. Don’t like either of them.

The heights
RIP to my uncle :mjcry: he always said elway was the GOAT QB and if the trade with the 49ers would've happened in the 1983 draft he would have every record and the older I get the more I see it

The problem with alot of older players is that everything is now stat and narrative driven. There's no context. He didn't win a ring so he wasn't that good. No one said that shyt in real time. He was considered an all time great the majority of his career.

YouTube clips don't tell the whole story. You'd have an appreciation for cats like Marino and Montanna if you saw them in real time.

Stop this nonsense. Most people watching back then couldn't even watch in real time outside of watching highlight clips. It ain't like today where Sunday Ticket is available or even Red Zone. Back then you was at the mercy of networks. And if you had a local AFC team in the East or Central time zone you were rarely seeing his games. Marino has one of the best highlight reels ever so if anything it likely lead to him being overrated in real time as most were only seeing his highlights. A lot of times it's the non-highlight places that separates the QBs.

But he’s not overrated. And the almost three decades it took to surpass his passing totals is a testament to that.
