It's dangerous for both the tackler and the opponent to look down before the hit and lead with the crown of your helmet. That's not physics, it's poor tackling.
at what point did he lead with the crown of his head...replay that video second by second and figure that one out
this is what I'm talking about....its like y'all speak without using any kind of definitive measurement
its always "he lead with his head"....NO every tackle is made with you leading your head....you don't say "FINE THAT CORNERBACK BECAUSE HE JUST MADE A SHOELACE TACKLE BY LEADING WITH HIS HEAD"....no you shrug it off and say good tackle....but that tackle is THE DEFINITION of leading with your head (don't worry I'll wait as you ignore this)
it should be determined based upon the angle of the tacklers head with respect to the field
The rule should never have been "if you lead with your head." It should be "once the defender drops their head and the opposing player is no longer in their direct field of view."
You don't think the linebacker coming at an angle, making a tackle on a sweep leads with his head? Aren't we taught the best way to stop a defender on an angle is to put your shoulder into their hip and your head in front of their body? How in the world can I put my shoulder into somebody's hip without leading with my head.
The only time ppl
is when its a HUGE hit or helmet to helmet hit. Which makes the ruling hypocritical, because all it takes is a small change in direction to make a normal hit and huge collision.
