i did that in my last job...ppl think that shyt is ideal and it really isn't at least not for long term...from mid 2007 to 2009 I was on the road almost 2 weeks out of the month..for the majority of that time i was single so i was loving it...got to visit all these cities..my hotel, flights, and meals were paid for by my clients..and if i knew a chick in the city i was in id have them come through..but living out your suitcase for a whole week, dealing with cancelled or late night flights and still have to get into the office the next morning, or eating at restaurants all the time, etc etc...all that shyt gets old after a while

TYRONE GA!
75-85% travel here breh.

I do engineering consulting for warehouse distribution (Workforce Management).

The perks are good (airline miles, hotel miles, car rental rewards), but you do miss out on time at home.

The list is just a guide to the best in the industry. Don't pay too much attention to the rankings though. But yeah if you are looking to travel in IT, consulting is one of the best options.
Ive worked for plenty of contractors, what is the difference with consulting?

It's probably good if you're single and wanting to explore. Those with families, not ideal at all.

i travel 40-50% of the year...sometimes more than that. i've been doing it for 5.5 years now.

it's exciting earning all the airline miles and hotel points, eating at new restaurants and foods, seeing new places at first...but it does eventually get a little old. it's hard to have a social life here at home. however i still do enjoy being on the road. there's something nice about taking mini breaks from your life everything now and then.

this past year, i've probably traveled the least since i've been at this job...and i've been like :lupe: waiting for my next trip.

in the next two months, i'm scheduled to go to South Korea:ld:, Hawaii:hula:, Japan:ehh:, Thailand:banderas:, and Virginia:rudy:.

oh i've been to all those places before except Thailand. and i'm only going there after for personal travel after i'm done in South Korea. i found a low cost airline that's only $200 r/t Seoul to Bangkok. :lawd:

my neutral feelings towards South Korea and Japan are because I've already spent so much time there.

I don't but I have a friend that is a network engineer and solutions architect. Dude is pretty much on a Jet half of the year. He doesn't seem to mind. But then again he's got a wife and 3 kids and I think sometimes he appreciates the small breaks he gets.
