No brokeback mountain for him
He knew we was gonna cook him in the Film Room
@Pull Up the RootsDamn. The streets need another gay love story classic.
Our last one was “call me by your name” and that was like 7 years ago.
He’s got a pointNikka says he can only method act to a point lol
He didn’t just sign to star in the movie he was producing it and had a hand in writing the script. He knew FULL well what the role entitled to if its true that he dropped out mere days before filming was beginning due to “cold feet” is some grade A scum bag bullshyt. He’s putting HUNDREDS of jobs, the director’s reputation, the executive producer’s reputations, and the studio’s reputation in a bad VERY bad light.
Cause Ain't nobody gonna watch that Bullshyt without Big named actors in it.Why not just cast a gay man?
On the one hand, Joaquin was clearly chasing Oscar bait trying to play this role. Apparently its a 1930s detective, and he wanted to make it "provocative" but when they came back with the final draft he was like
The pros and cons about Hollywood being this fake progressive paragon, is this imo
On the one hand, the CRAFT itself of acting takes a hit, cause now people are gonna write roles for specific characters based on their race/sex orientation/gender and have it locked. Its not like back in the day where a straight actor could play a gay dude and win an oscar, or a black actor could audition and take a role meant for a white actor like say Darth Vader, or vice versa like Neo was meant for Will Smith... it was based on who had the chops and who fit the role better
On the other hand, its good because now along with more representation comes more authenticity. No more cacs playing Ghengis Khan or Jesus, and no more having to Kiss a breh if you want to be recognized for your "gravitas" and range
