I'm only halfway thru it but... :mjcry: I don't know if I'm feeling this new direction breh. shyts killing me a lil bit inside since I'm a stan. :mjcry:

It's just different. The album does not have classic songs like Priscilla, those songs that catch your ears the first time. The album is not bad, it flows nicely, but it does not have that "it" factor.:patrice: Addicted and Need you are my favorites so far. I liked Priscilla the first time I listened to it,:wow:

I listened last night and recently did some studying with it playing.
Not going to even front. I'm thoroughly disappointed.
I knew he said he was going for a different direction and sound for this album, but Jesus.
I hate when artists switch it up out of the blue.
For better or worse, he was clearly in a different place for this one.
He gets a freebie from me because he's put out great stuff in the past so I'll still support this and buy it, but I won't playing this half as much as I did Pllaje or Priscilla and if his next project sounds similar, I'm probably passing.
Sucks because I was waiting for this to drop since back in April.

I'm a stan too breh, the album sounds like it could be great live:yeshrug:, but I sincerely don't feel the production. Maybe Priscilla and even Pllaje raised the bar too high, so we now have huge expectations.:beli:

He definitely went for the "live" feel. The album is growing on me tho. A few joints had me like :lawd: today. But as a whole album, this is the worst of the bunch.

The production aint my style but that break on 'Bout It is some motivating shyt. That's that "crank out a few more max reps on the bench press" type beat.

I feel like you but its growing on me a bit. There a few songs I don't think I'll play much tho. At least the writing is still there. At this point I got Bout It, Score, Delay, and No Apologies as my favorite jams so far.

I'm envious breh.
After a few days with it, a couple songs are okay but I can't get into it as a whole.
It's whatever though and the project makes sense.
'Priscilla' was dealing with a break-up from his chick.
'Pllaje' seemed to be bridging that gap and this one pretty much seems like my dude has found him a chick to kick it with again.
All albums reflect a certain mood and at least now folks can't say all of his shyt sounds the same.
I'm copping this to support but I'm really lowkey waiting for that break up.

Hmmm... listen to them lyrics again. I don't think dude is in a new relationship. A lot of this cd has a "my heart is still hurting but fukk it that's life" vibe to it. That's why "No Apologies" goes so hard to me.

Ironically his love life seems to mirror mine tho. :patrice:

I'll go back & listen but songs like Street Sweeper and Addicted led me to believe otherwise.
'Price' states "somehow I found you/and there's nothing I can do."
I'll give it another spin down the line.
:manny:
Maybe I checked out mentally and missed some things.

You may be right cuz I zoned out on those songs but that same thing happened with Pllaje. Breh had a song called "The One" saying shyt like "Something tells me this is right, all the things I can take away from this." on some :blessed: shyt. When a couple of songs before he had "Walk Away" which is lamenting how he can't let go of an ex on some :mjcry: shyt.

Regardless, I'm just happy to be able to discuss this shyt with someone. none of my friends in real life listen to JMSN.

Always on point breh. When I try to put my friends into it, they are like :usure: or they bring stuff like Chris Brown or Trey Songz.

He did a lot of videos for Priscilla. Which one would you like to get on the new album?

Likewise. None of my boys listen but I did put my girl on him and she's had Priscilla on repeat.
Chick may have heard 'Runaway' more than I have.
:lolbron:
She put me on FKA Twigs who has a few songs similar to some of his stuff.
Some of her shyt is :wow:
This right here is tough.

But I've let this album marinate and 'My Way' has really grown on me.
Still, when I go back to Pllaje, I can't help but be disappointed by this. Breh was in a zone for that one.
Maybe I'll eventually come around to other tracks but so far the only one I can see bumping consistently is 'My Way.'

:patrice: Not sure about videos since he got all weird with the Pllaje videos. LOL. But I'd love to see a visual accompaniment for Score and Bout It

It's funny how we all have different favorite songs. I guess that's a good thing. I'm a little disappointed as well but this album is growing on me HEAVY. Even "Streetsweeper" be havin me like :lawd: nowadays.

Yep.
I can cosign you on Street Sweeper.
It's grown on me. Found myself queing it up today while in the library.
'Score' & 'Addicted' 1&2 are getting play, too.
As far as FKA, she had one of the best debut albums I've ever heard. If you like JMSN, you'll probably enjoy her material, too.
Start with EP1 & EP2, and then hit up LP1 which was her debut.
SOME of her stuff sounds JMSN-Weeknd like. I still can't categorize her music, though. It's definitely different.
