damn, while she's a beautiful black woman, i can't co-sign this. interracial marriage is a non-issue. we're all one people. i don't even consider it "interracial," finding that very term insulting to us as a human race. no matter what color you are, i judge you as my human brethren -- not a separate race (species, really) with whom i interact in this global community.
with THAT said, this video of the dude proposing to his girl is embarrassing. what an obvious fakkit.
It seems like she's just against the idea of a lost culture or some shyt like that. My feeling on the whole issue is that people should date people who are like them, this means people who share similar values, interests, beliefs, etc. If that person happens to LOOK different from you then that shouldn't be a deterrent.
You can't be out here talmbout "well we like the same music, we have the same ideas about society, we're both very well educated, we both come from families who know and respect the value of hard work, but nah I won't get with so and so because she's of a different race"
The thing about IR dating is that people have some real fukked up perceptions about us. They don't want to fukk up their white privilege by having blacks in their family and blacks don't want to lose their unique culture by having whites or whatever in their family.
That's what I think Jill scott is trying to get at. If a daughter of mine brought a white boy home or my son brought a white woman to me, I'd be worried that she'd say some racial shyt to him, or they'd have a bad break up after having a biracial child and the white parent will start telling that child some fukked up shyt about blacks and really fukking with her identity which does indeed tend to happen.
Sometimes the parent can be as progressive as possible and their kids still end up like this though

But I'm not going to be against it if I like the person. White people and other races associate us with failure and so they assume we'll "ruin" their family line and some people feel threatened because if a black person or whatever is MORE successful than them, then they'll get upset and they'll be thinking if "this *racial epithet* is more successful, eloquent and better than I am then its like he's patronizing me by trying to get with my kid or I REALLY fukked up" and they're reminded of their failings when they see dude/ol girl coming around the house.
