Production or musically? Musically, yeah but production and of course, songwriting, is Babyface hands down. Babyface make stronger and more memorable records. The GAWDS
No disrespect to Face, but production-wise, he cant hang with Jam and Lewis
Most Face productions sound like Face records with someone else on lead vocals and Face on backgrounds
Jam and Lewis, while they definitely have sonic signatures, tailor the song to the artist which is what a producer is supposed to do

Musically, Jam & Lewis are superior because they were musicians first. Babyface learned to play guitar and then piano to write songs. In songwriting, the bare minimum is knowing how to play chord progressions.
I play the keyboard and compose so your analysis is incorrect. I’m not a studio or touring musician, though.I'm a musician, so I can tell by the way you're using the nomenclature that you are not.
Not shyttin on you for that, but we're not coming to the subject from a shared perspective
So to discuss from a musically academic perspective would be unproductive
It sounds like you feel that J&L are better producers than songwriters and that Face is a better songwriter than they are
To be honest, I'm still undecided on that.

8701 had the following deep cut, which is one of my favorite Usher songs..
Raymond v Raymond has the following deep cut that stayed on loop when that album dropped too:
How Do I Say? Is their strongest record on 8701.

I have none of the aforementioned qualifications. To my untrained ear, I agree with @FeverPitch2I play the keyboard and compose so your analysis is incorrect. I’m not a studio or touring musician, though.
Our definitions of producer differ. Producer means person(s) responsible for the final product(s).
As far as composing music for their records, I favor J&L.
Overall records, lyrics and music, Babyface. Babyface tends to use the same chord progressions and his musical compositions are simpler compared to J&L.
Understand now?
