Sadly it didn't even have to be all that, but sony got really comfortable blocking games not only on xbox but game pass.

Why doesn't Microsoft do the same? They have the money to do so.
What y’all are asking for is the actual anti-competative, bad for the industry stuff.

They could spend the 70b on blocking games off playstion and that would hurt playstation and microsoft would lose money.

Scorched earth strategy would leave both worse off and game communities broken.

Or they could do what they’re doing and try to innovate new markets like cloud and subscription services, and bring mobile gamers to console or console games to mobile gamers.

Now that everything has been laid out in court, i’m not sure why any of you would still be against this at this point.

Buying up a publisher isn't uncompetitive but buying timed exclusivity is?

Ok.

Sony bought bungie, a Publisher, games are coming to all systems and will be well funded and backed by Sony=Good for consumers-Good for Bungie

Sony paying square to skip xbox and pc with final fantasy =Bad for everyone but sony.

It’s the details of the deal and what will be done with the content that matters.

So Starfield exclusivity is bad for consumers too?

Yes kinda. But that’s mitigated by the fact it will be available on PC, Cloud, and series S giving consumers more options to play without the need to pay for new expensive hardware to play.

Yes it’s losing a platform, but it’s also gaining platforms as well. I’m sure the amount of people who own a playstation but don’t own one of the platforms the game is available on is very small. So the game will actually have further reach than it would if bethesda stayed independent.

I thought Xbox was against exclusivity? Wouldn't Starfield and TES on multiple consoles AND gamepass make them more money?? :dwillhuh:

They said they’d rather not have to make games exclusive, but admitted that’s the way the industry works so they will use some games for that purpose.

Yes up front it would, but it is being used as strategic positioning to get people to subscribe to gamepass, Xcloud, and/or Xbox. They’ve deduced the lost revenue is worth the growth of their other platforms.

They literally have a choice to do this or not. they had exclusives in their FKIN hayday during the 360 era and they screwed themselves with poor quality control. They even squandered the chance to win after the PSN hack :dead: but they've believed in exclusives since day 1.
They are not the hero we deserve on some caped crusader tip nicca nor do they occupy some moral highground above Sony execs

The last point just further proves they'll stop at nothing to spend their competition out of business. You Xbox shills not seeing how bad that's already been for gaming is nuts

Lotta stan stuff here.

It’s capitalism. Everyone is spending money to make money that’s how it works.

You guys praise sony for spending money to secure exclusive content, then wanna get on here crying when sony is on the other side of it.

quit bytchin and/or buy an xbox
