On a recent episode of his podcast (via Ringside News) Jim Ross spoke about rumors that the WWE women may be receiving some form of pay for not being allowed to perform at the Greatest Royal Rumble event. Here is what he had to say…

“I don’t know why it would be that way. It’s not everybody’s right to be on any card. You earn your right to be on the card. And the women have done a phenomenal job and I am as big a supporter of women’s athletics in general, hey I’m a season ticket holder to the OU women’s basketball games. I’m a big fan of the OU women’s softball team who are defending national champions. So I’m a big fan. But I believe the same thing as I do about WrestleMania. It’s not your birthright to be booked. It’s like playing in the Super Bowl. It’s not your right as an NFL player you earn that right to get in that game. So I believe the women I don’t know if they were paid or not. I don’t know why they would have been paid and I may piss some people off but I’m just being honest. It’s my problem I have sometimes, being honest.”

Their boss takes money from a country that treats women worse than dogs but good ol JR thinks they didn't "earn the right to be on the card" :stopitslime:

I guess Sami didn't earn his right to be on the card either :stopitslime:

Someone needs to tell this drunk to STFU!

Get over it or stop supporting the product. Vince had a choice; support the women's division, which is just a marketing project by Steph that churns out a few good matches per year, or take hundreds of millions from the Saudis to do a couple of shows there every year for the next (ten?) years. You all knew what he was going to pick. Money > morals. I guess the nice thing to do would have been to pay them but this is Vince McMahon we're talking about here; nice for what? :heh:

And JR was just tip toeing around the obvious so his words couldn't be used against him down the line. The response was stupid, but that stupid response won't come back to bite him in the ass later. There's nothing usable there.

its one event out of the whole year....

his words for saying they haven't earned the right to be on that card is wrong in a sense from a WWE standpoint, but from the country of Saudi Arabia stand point, they haven't. Is it right, no but in the grand scheme of things, this one event does not hurt the WWE nor the womens division. They'll still have main event matches on Raw/SD/NXT probably a ppv...one of the women matches for WM next will be considered a main event even though they won't close out the show...

they will be fine

The problem for me is not the fact that they went to Saudi Arabia, it's the fact that they did it under this "women's revolution" bullshyt, if you not gonna have morals, be consistent with it.

Looking across Social Media last weekend though, it seems like the women in WWE didn't have a problem with it.

It’s literally just a PPV event
It’s not that big of a deal :mjlol:
These damn snowflakes always gotta find something to bytch about, it's a damn PPV hosted in a country with different laws compared to the west, WWE is not exempt from being under such laws. At the day many corporations and government make pragmatic deals with countries that supposedly aren't under the 'western' Ideology.

Women's wrestling is an integral part of the WWE:hula:Lol we're gonna do shows in a country that treats women like dogs and leave you off the card

I like Good Ol' JR as an announcer, but it's not surprising whatsoever that an old man from Oklahoma would be so backwards thinking. How can you "earn" the right to be on a card that you're not even allowed to be on?? :mindblown:
