I realized watching old matches today why Vince constantly shyts on good ol' JR. When those two were calling matches together, JR stayed correcting Vince on the names of moves and where the wrestler was hurt. JR let that being the best commentator go to his head.
I don't think he cares as much as others do about getting beat up on TV... he's a beloved character/person and he draws sympathy like no other. So he's been used in that "humiliation" role when trying to draw heat to a heel- i.e. McMahon, Tazz, Kane, Austin, HHH, Cole, etc. I don't believe all of it is just mean-spirited abuse like people depict it as.
Now stuff like the out-of-nowhere move to SmackDown was shytty, because he should've at least gotten the respect to be told beforehand. And those times he was let go for fukked up reasons back in the day were definitely unwarranted. But for the most part, wrestling's in that man's heart... he probably genuinely doesn't get as "hurt" as the IWC often does about the things that happen to his on-screen character at the hands of heels. Beating up JR is like insulting the local sports team- it's guaranteed heat 10 times out of 10. Way more than anyone else... shyt, Punk coulda beaten him up in Chicago and the whole crowd probably woulda turned on him.

Actually, JR is STILL on the active payroll and hasnt done squat for essentially the past 3-4 years.
I'd say being Kliq'd up has paid off tremendously.

Vince Mcmahon is just a crooked ass nygga when as he gets close to 70. And from the shoots about his daughter, she don't sound much better. That's why the 'Stand up for the WWE' and "Be a Star" campaigns are such a unintentional joke all around.
