How did the Clipse dress??? They were fashion trendsetters?

I saw Young Jeezy, Fabolous, Kanye West, Jay-Z all wearing Bathing Ape/BBC around that time. Nobody were saying that they were trying to be like the Clipse.

Pharrell and Clipse were the first ones in the head to toe BBC/Bape wave. So yes they were all dressing like them in 04-05.

This a spin off from all the Jim Jones threads in here, his fans very invested in this being his lasting impact on hip hop culture. But I don't remember him being the first prominent rapper to dress like that

I agree with what you saying though, it wasn't original either way. Was a sign of the times where hip hop artists was no longer the trend setters, they just rode a wider cultural wave. Was never feeling that era of fashion either.
