If you even know that song enough to go to YouTube for it, you’re a fan. So yea, the comments are gonna be a much more reliable barometer of the true love an artist gets….as opposed to here where you have 20 year old Cacs in disguise pulling up songkick stats :stopitslime: or nggas who were nerds back them and now doing revisionist history.

Let me repeat, if you straight up saying Dipset wasn’t poppin you were a NERD. Full stop. And shytting on them and other artist that was poppin back then is your getback. Basically a hip hop incel

You think a comment section full of underage cacs is "the culture?" :unimpressed:

Jim only had 1 moment in the sun and Ballin was it. Hell, the album it was on didn't even get a plaque but cook

In Jim defense that era was rough to sell records.
Single went platinum in real time so it couldn't have been that hard :yeshrug:

People fukked with the song but the album and Jones himself...:ld:

But Dipset never could sell outside of Cam regardless of era but that's another thread

In 2006 it was like 4 or 5 rappers who can say their last album went platinum

Right, bc some underage Cacs are looking up ‘Huslter’s Pome intro’ :aicmon:

I didn’t stutter. The comment sections for niche/artists reflect genuine sentiment more than here. Which is crazy to say. But yall nggas are weirdos. Too biased

Ie according to the coli Jay-z was a modestly famous east coast rapper who paled in comparison to a Soulja Slim or Z Ro :comeon:

I’d bet momey some of you have no idea what this is or heard any songs off it. Talkin bout some sales. The culture can’t be summed up in ‘sales’. Especially that era. Just disgusting talking points.

Some of you need to just admit…

Put it this way,it wasn't that hard for the rappers who were what revisionist claim the Dips were. I'm not even shytting on the Dips or their sales. Because I think their sales accurately match how I remember them in real time.

Plies went gold/platinum with a tength of the visibility:sas1:

And I only say it's a fact that Plies had a large portion of the southeast streets locked for certain. These nikkas claim that the Dipset had the streets locked nationwide. To the point you wasn't outside if Max B and Jim Jones and the rest of the Dips names weren't like wildfire:wow:

And it's a fact the Dips had online locked up early. Which tells you alot of they demographic wasn't "the streets" like folks want you to believe.

They had a heavy online cult following which is why their fanbase is so scattered. Not because they had the streets locked nationally. If they had the streets locked nationally, combined with their visibility, combined with their hits. There's no way record sales and success don't reflect that. I can't think of a time it didn't back then. People can feel free to name the rapper where it didn't translate. They would've been A tier or B tier stars which they were not.
