Funny thing is, a lot of black people (Nigerians in particular) fukk with the gimmick heavy. 
shyt, the most pushback this is getting is on here (Which, I get. The Gimmick itself is suspect and the poeple likely behind the gimmick have a track record) and from mostly white wrestling fans who are tryna be offended FOR black people.
I personally don't think it's that problematic. Apollo seems more comfortable within this gimmick than we've ever seen him before, so run it.

The accent is really not needed, and almost kills the gimmick. That is how he talks after being stateside for all of his adult life? (kayfabe).
Also, if he's going to have militants, will they help him get beatdown heat, or it just optics?
The spear is very questionable, and dated if not racist. I mean, it's dull af because you can't have a sharp object, so it looks lame. And you can even hit people with it because the call would be "he just speared him in the gut", which doesn't sound PG friendly at all..
I do love how Apollo is seemingly making this work, and the promos and program between him and Big E so far has been fire. I love how he is an intense heel now, and they nailed it on pulling the trigger for the turn, as he was bland and generic for a long time now.
I hope he gets the chance to refine this gimmick over time, and he doesn't end up being a complete joke when the push is over.

Not enthused by them borrowing cultural elements because Vince loves parodying them and making them cartoonish or just what HE sees them as instead of allowing for authenticity

Can we please stop making threads on this dudes opinion and generating traffic to his videos? Yeah hes said some funny things about AEW and WWE once before but even a broken clock is right twice a day, he's a blatantly racist weirdo cuck and im sure there are other outlets of non-racists discussing these same topics

Without seeing the transition for Crews, it doesn't sound like they made the easiest and most logical explanations for his change that fundamentally make the gimmick change make sense.
He has an accent all of a sudden? Not all of a sudden, he code switched to be more appealing to American ears for years. This is his real voice. My father grew up in Trinidad and was there for 15 years before coming state side - his accent is still here, so it's fully feasible for him to have been FROM Nigeria, been living IN the US, but changed his voice to not be made fun of, for in, etc. Saying that he switched his voice up to be "one of you" is the easiest explanation as a face gone heel and that his voice is his real voice. Easy change if/when he goes face too. Instead they insult our intelligence like they did with Kofi and that's just laziness.
And to their point, the name absolutely should change. When I saw the promo, I was sure he would take on the Uhaa name somewhere in his current name and let it casually change over time. Something like Rocky Maivia transitioning to Rocky "The Rock" Maivia" to eventually just The Rock. Apollo Crews to Apollo Uhaa Crews to eventually Uhaa makes perfect sense, but again - weirdly missed opportunity that I don't see how they can incorporate Uhaa now without it being awkward. They had the window and let it slip.

They rebranded a dude that had a major championship like 4 months ago?
This is actually what happened on TV... he literally said things similar to this in his promos... he said that he is a real Nigerian and that in this country, all of those things were made fun of so he tried to be like Americans. But his family is from royalty which makes him greater than us.
The name change is a thing that needs to happen tho'. It definitely doesn't make sense to make the transition and not also transition his Americanized name as well. Apollo Uhaa sounds dope.
