He doesn't want to do adult, violent movies anymore
Remember he trashed Kickass 2, a movie he's in, during its the promotional tour and there's only so many Sonics he can do
He's probably getting offered plenty of roles that require violence or guns and he doesn't want to do that any longer

If I’m remembering correctly, one of the school shootings had just occurred a few months before Kickass 2 and he swore off all gun violence.
