Jhonny Gonzalez Wants Donaire-Walters, Not Rigondeaux

WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (57-8, 48KOs) plans to sit ringside on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California - when Nonito Donaire and Nicholas Walters will battle for WBA's version of the 126-pound crown.
Gonzalez reclaimed his WBC title at the very same venue last August, when he stopped Abner Mares in the first round of action.
"Whoever wins, hopefully I will face them next year and I'm very interested in that, and that is why we are traveling to Los Angeles to see the fight. We do not know if we are going to close the year with another fight. I have to sit with my promoters to discuss that issue," Gonzalez said.
One fighter Gonzalez is not really interested in facing is WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, who recently said he was willing to go up a few pounds to face Gonzalez.
The Mexican champion is open to facing any opponent, but says the American cable networks [HBO and Showtime] are not interested in paying a lot of money for a fight involving Rigondeaux.
"I am ready to face any fighter as I have always said. But they don't have to talk to me. They have to talk to my promoters, because those are the people who they must reach an agreement with. If there is a good deal or negotiations, I'm ready to fight with that person," Gonzalez said.
"He's a good fighter. But you all know that for American television networks in the United States, he is not a fighter who puts on a show or builds up anticipation or brings money [to the table]. And this is a business and if there is a really good purse being offered then of course I will grab it."
