jessie Ware is by far the best at stanning Sade btw
Pos rep. She would be my personal choice. I mentioned Tinashe earlier since her and Jhene seem to be compared a lot, even though Tinashe is a better vocalist. Ware is on a higher level though.

i wasnt around in the sade era...but from what i checked for her years later she always seemed like she didnt perform much, and thought she was like above everyone and the music...

what was the deal with her? anyone know?
She only tours when an album drops. Since the early 90s its been about every 8 years or so, she's slowed down Since the 80s. Last I heard she's retired :yeshrug:

Jhene is a poor woman's Amerie.

Her music is chill , it doesn't give me any replay value whatsoever.

The music is calming but it isn't something I would listen to. Plus some of the songs have a boring feel to me.

Breh Brehs!

I had to come back in here now that I have had a chance to listen to this album.

:manny:

I have to say, I never really liked her singing voice and was a little quick to dismiss this album.

I have to say now:

:noah:

I really like this album. I have had the whole thing on repeat.

This album is her lane. If she stays in this lane she could have a nice lil niche cut out for herself.

Her voice flows nicely on the production and she does not have to carry the album with her voice alone, they created the perfect soundscape for Jhene.

I think we have to let people be in their lane and not be quick to compare. Certainly she is no powerhouse vocalist. Certainly no one will mistake her as Aretha Franklin or Patti LaBelle.

We have to look at art within it's own parameters of what is offered.

After giving a really good listen, this album is a nice relaxing listen. Mild, easy, laid back, down tempo flows and based on these concepts, this album succeeds.

I like promises the most so far overall though on first listen it did sound like one long song. I had to get over the autotune in the vocals and the limited vocal range. She definantly found a way to convey emotion despite her setbacks and has flashes of brilliance in this album. But as I said before her vocals can only allow her to do so much when they get rendered under so many effects. With that out of the way shes a breath of fresh air lyrically, nothing amazing but alot better than alot of her competition nowadays given that shes actually implements feeling and personal experience into her albums. Alot of artist have alot of talent but dont do use it in a meaningful way towards wanted to make something that can people ex: beyonce. So she has that going for her ill keep a few of these songs in rotation, shame she doesnt have a better voice she could make waves if she did.
