Because we’re in a bubble of our own creation which divorces our reality from the realities of the natural world. For one, we forget time and time again that we too are animals that are 1000% dependent on our environment and its stability. Concepts of the mind like infinite capitalistic growth or religious ideology which places humans at a level of such exceptionalism that these calamities are nothing more than the proof of our own eventual extinction. A proof which proves our exceptionalism and not that we’re stupid animals with our heads so far our asses that we don’t take accountability for creating the conditions we see now every step of the goddamn way.

Humanity realized it at least 30 years ago. Corporate and political interests and voters apathy have granted us mutually assured destruction on both sides. Its over now.

People will just move and talk shyt about the places that make the news until it gets to them, then they'll move again until we get washed out little by little and fall into the ocean.
