Lots of Black people were shytting on him hard long before 2006, especially his employees and people in communities that he had fukked over. The problem in New York is that he had a lot of power (both money and at times political connections) so too many people were incentivized to look past that shyt for strategic reasons.
It's bullshyt and you shouldn't do it, but it's also the tradeoff most people make (and most posters admit themselves that they would make).
