MTV has announced that they are ending their hit reality series Jersey Shore.

According to MTV News, the upcoming sixth season will be its last. After the show's debut in 2009, Snooki, DJ Pauly D, The Situation, Sammie, J Woww, Deena, Vinny, Ronnie and even Angelina became household names, known for their catchphrases and party hardy lifestyle,

With the season premiere airing Thursday, October 4, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, MTV will commemorate the end of the show with a nostalgic line-up of Shore programming beginning Thursday, September 6, with a one-hour retrospective, called "Gym, Tan, Look Back."

That special premieres at 6 p.m. ET/PT right before the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Recapping some of the show's most memorable moments, the special will also give viewers a sneak peek into the new season. Fans can also expect bonus programming of the show following each final episode this season.

Farewell, Shore! It was fun while it lasted.

word. I heard about this last night. as much as I like the show, I think they should cancel it, I was always salty how they got rich and famous overnight for simple fukkery. I'm madd it wasn't me instead.
