Sums up his entire career. JD built a career bitin. But I won't, shyt was my personal soundtrack when it dropped. The beat sounds crisp as shyt coming out the right system
JD was national in 92 with Kriss Kross and TLC, before bad boy was a thought, then he dropped Xscape in 93/94 before puff ever thought of a total. JD was a pioneer of the whole building an urban label from the ground up, far from a biter. He resurrected Mariah's career and saved Usher's careers and made him the superstar we know when Diddy failed to launch him correctly. Like I said, nah, biter he wasn't...

it worked out for Da Brat because at the same time, it didn't have a G-Funk feel in a way, it was more of an "east coast funk" if you will and females weren't getting that commercial love at the time.

Even though "The party continues" wasn't as big as it should have, i'm more mad that "Coming home with me" didn't BLOW UP as this was more HIT ORIENTED than anything!

goddamn this was the JOINT

Puff was in a system building in an established label, JD went straight into building from the bottom up, no major label internship in a city that wasn't one of the hubs of the music industry. In 92 when JD is making noise with TLC and KK and building his imprint, Puff was working with artists like MJB and Jodeci, both of whom were products/signings of Andre Harrell. If anything, both these dudes were grinding in their own lanes at the same time, to say JD built his career biting when JD was actually at the forefront of his own label first is a huge disservice to dude.
As for the video at hand, Diddy did have an impact on the whole industry at that point, but everyone had videos and a formula like that - timbo/missy, LL, etc

:wow: :wow:

JD never gave no fukks

cardan was mase's guy tho.

thats really not biting.

besides, puff intercepted mase when he was headed to atlanta to sign with JD anyway. mase was supposed to be on so so def like homie said earlier.

:clap::clap:

jermaine dupri was that dude for a good 15 years.

i wouldnt say he pioneered the 'urban label from the ground up' thing, but hes one of the OGs.

so so def was the chit. and then you had all the affiliates like mariah, monica, usher, etc. kriss kross kinda counts as affiliates too since they werent actually signed there.

but yea, JD was a follower half the time tho but realistically speaking, that could be said for most of the game, so why knock JD? hes the modern-day herbie luv bug, whose legacy is also taken for granted. but very few producers can f*ck with either of them and their products so its whatever.

"The Party Continues" was kind of a sequel to "We Just Wanna Party With You" with Snoop Dogg. I want to say that Snoop's final straw with Death Row was that they were going to make a video to this song and make it the lead single to "Life in 1472" even though it was already on the "Men in Black" soundtrack and Death Row wouldn't let him over pettiness. So JD ended up doing a new song, "The Party Continues," with Da Brat.

Wasnt this the remix? Like there was an original version bubbling on the radio at the same time.

Was it the version with Snoop on the MIB soundtrack?

But yeah this was playing in the summer 98
