This song was my shyt back in 98'. J.D. sampling Cameo's "She's Strange" and Kool & the Gang's "Get Down on It" was a great idea.

The other thing that I like is how Da Brat and J.D. balance each other out. J.D.'s whole steeze is easygoing while Da Brat's is much more energetic over such a smooth beat. Oh yeah, Usher laced the hook too. :stylin:

shyt is classic, Usher killed that hook too..I felt it was slept on when it was released too, it got moderate airplay but it should've been a bigger hit than what it was. I hate how songs like this are basically ignored these days except maybe a spin or 2 on MTV jams during some particular block.

That's exactly what I've always thought too! :ohhh:

I couldn't understand back then and I still don't understand now how this song was not a bigger hit than it was. I still listen to it like it's 98'. :stylin:

Lol Da Brat is more manly than JD.

And I'm not trying to hate on anyone's opinion, but this sounds like :trash: to me. I don't know what you're seeing in this. JD is wack.

Two words

BAD BOY :takedat:

basically a bite of everything Puff was doing at the time

It was in a way with J.D. and Da Brat dressing a like in video, like how Diddy and Ma$e did in the "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" video.

But at the same time this was still a great song. Plus, it's not like the song itself was a direct carbon copy of any song Diddy or any Bad Boy artist had out at that time. Although I see what you're saying and I think to an extent J.D. did follow that Bad Boy formula.

I'd say a better example of Jermaine biting was when he and Da Brat did that Funkdafied album. She was basically (not really) a female Snoop rapping over (G) Funk beats. It was nice because Da Brat can rap and the beats were good but at the same time it was like, come on J.D! It was everything Dr. Dre and Snoop had already done only nowhere near as great and I like Da Brat.

it worked out for Da Brat because at the same time, it didn't have a G-Funk feel in a way, it was more of an "east coast funk" if you will and females weren't getting that commercial love at the time.

Even though "The party continues" wasn't as big as it should have, i'm more mad that "Coming home with me" didn't BLOW UP as this was more HIT ORIENTED than anything!
