Give the belt to a WWE employee brehs:wow:

After all the shyt Naito has put that belt through, it would probably feel at home if Jericho throws it on the garbage on live TV. shyt would probably be like ":leon: Naito san, that you?"

The fukk did NJPW put a belt on him for, then? It seems like in Gedo’s mind, we’re all Vince Russo and want to see Americans, when in reality American fans want to see their authentic show live
Exactly:francis:. I subbed to NJPW to see TanaGOATI, Rainmaker, ShibGOATa, Suzuki, and countless others with a few westerners. Gedo and Jado trying too hard to please westerners by packing the promotion with indie darlings and ROH leftovers. It's really killing the entire purpose of what NJPW was all about. Sure, they let foreigners do their thing for ages, but it just seems like WWE done right which is kinda wrong and going to hurt the promotion in the long run.

Then again my territory is not all that up to par:manny:
I was watching Dominion and thought to my self that New Japan is starting to look like All Japan after the Misawa exodus. Theres so many gaijin wrestlers that it looks like a major indy with japanese announcers at times

:ahh:

It's simple, Vince has a "you have my blessing to go do whatever you want, but as soon as you help any competitor infringe on our direct territory (all of US), the bridge is burned. Obviously Vince and WWE have done alot for Jericho over the years, so he respects that, and wants to keep on good terms. He recognizes WWE is a corporate product now, so he has gone elsewhere to be creative because he still loves the business.

Regarding putting the title on him. I just think it's part of New Japan's plan to make a strong push into America. They can't have Jericho wrestle, but putting the belt on him might get some more people interested. Naito was burying the belt anyway, so no difference.

Nah, on the rare occasion I talk to a wrestling fan offline, if I mention New Japan the answer always is "They don't speak English, so I can't get into it". The fans that New Japan have in America ALREADY, on the ones that only care about good wrestling matches. The fans they are trying to get are the more casual ones that need some theatrics and English promos to reel them in for the matches. Having your heavyweight champion as a native speaker of English is sure to help with that. Not to mention racist Americans will be more willing to check it out if there's a white guy from their continent beating Japanese dudes for their top belt all the time.

This kinda reminds me of the World Wildlife Fund telling Vince that he can only use “WWF” for marketing ONLY in the US and “World Wrestling Federation” internationally and him not listening, burning that bridge and getting the “F” out. :snoop:

Yup, life is all about respect, the only way people can live harmoniously. So I give Vince some props, because if it were 99 percent of the other WWE affiliated talent, he would tell them to go fukk themselves, and Jericho props, because he recognizes what Vince and WWE did for him. I think he probably is in deep gratitude to him for allowing him to make enough money and get enough exposure so that he could venture into music the way he wanted. Neither of them need each other to make money at this point, so it's just about respect.
