It's because black people listen to Mainstream Media. If you listen to black independent media, they all vocally support black business.

Black people are caught in mind control methods. Never listen to MSM.

Didn't he throw Dame to the side, hire an all white staff for his streaming service, sell his clothing company, rap about bling and excessive wealth for the past 22 years man idgaf but he does have a point :russ:
That's why I don't trust Jay. It's all for leverage.

I'm sure they didn't have the money to produce a full production run of sneakers.
It was essentially a crowdfunding campaign. Most crowdfunding campaigns you don't get the product until months later.
I understand that but if they're made to order as @BmoreGorilla alluded to why not ship out to the customer when they are finished? I've seen Lavar rocking his son's signature shoe.

Why is 500 such a big problem? Cats have no problem with iPhone prices hell a lot of guys and gals are out here on contracts for years paying like 35-40 a month just to 'own' em (more like rent a phone)
Kinda hard to compare a pair of kicks to a phone though, something that whether we like it or not has become a major part of our lives. I mean they are even 2-3, or even 4 times more expensive than most Jordans. And dude hasn't even played in one NBA game yet. I think the biggest problem people have with Lavar though is his attitude. But yeah, it should be illegal just to hate on him because he wants to start his own company.

Ball is smart for only making the shoe as they are ordered. Its almost all profit. He's also smart for making them $500. The price is what got people to really talk about the shoe. If his brand catches on and there is more demand for his shyt than he can start making cheaper products becuz people are gonna want to buy the brand
Didn't Nipsey Hussle do something similar with his $1,000 album? There's something about wanting a product that is completely out of your price range. The fact that you can't afford it makes it attractive. The price creates mystique around the product.

You kind of answered your own question. How do we know they're finished? Lavar and Lonzo wearing sample pairs doesn't mean they have pairs for people who've purchased. Those sample pairs may have cost $1000s to make. Where as actually making a full production run would cost much less per shoe but it would mean they wouldn't be available for months later.

I definitely feel Jay and fukks with Var, but BBB is a horrible example because it's actually detrimental to the black community. :patrice:

Can't be ouchea charging po black folks $500 for kicks knowing damn well we'll make sacrifices to cop. :usure:

Just don't think the 2 go together. Big ups to Var but Jay shoulda dedicated that speech to Starbury. :francis:

Support black business but don't go broke doing it. :heh:

Maybe he was talking to "his class". :yeshrug:

It's not even about Lavar Ball for me it's about how this nikka might change the status quo and path incoming athletes would indefinitely take as it relates to their likeness. Stephon Marbury got shytted on for doing it and Shaq got clowned for years for doing it both of them were ahead of their time. If Lavar can pick up where these other men failed in terms of ownership more power to him. Respect to what he's indirectly doing, fukk making these cacs billions and having no real stake in your name or cut when that bread getting divvied up. Michael Jordan and "his" sneakers should not be the model anymore.

Edit:typos

Finally, somebody gets the big picture of what Jay's talking bout:snoop:

Lavar's finesse game is running on all cylinders at this point...:manny: but homie is about his hustle, his money, and his family (well his boys...wife probably be in the bushes soon enough...:mjlol:). If nggas wanna go out and get hustled for some BBB shoes...then so be it. To each their own. Can't knock Lavar for catchin a lick. I definitely believe in supporting their brand...but only off GP as a supporter of black enterprise. Or if you got it to throw away. Stylistically...they're just not there yet for me to drop a bag on...and I'd still prefer some red-bottoms from some Euro cac....:mjgrin:but I don't got it to throw away so I'm gonna buy what I like...:ehh: He'll always have my respect for doin it his way...not bowin down to the cacs and the naysayers.

Poor black folks aren't gonna buy it anyway becuz its not a known brand. Now if his son becomes a superstar you have a point but by then he'd easily be able to mass produce his product and have them sold retail. Its not like poor black folks were buying Starburys and they were cheap. Its all about the brand name and if his son doesn't become a star he takes no losses

Not a bad design...
Buy knock off Kobes w/ inferior technology for 2-3 times the price brehs.

As far as the price point, all popular athletes first sig shoes were at low price points and slowly increased(@or around $145 at least).
