I was just running this today. Classic track, and a very solid Jay album. This was the last two of street/hustler Jay, this and The Dynasty before he began his transition to what we mostly see now. The production wasn't as strong or defining as either of his three previous albums to me, but still an album I loved. If you are about 35/38 now, you remember this album was about $25, and Jay talking to you on the intro, "I know you just taking the wrapping of the cd...." great time in the game, and my life.

Where was u paying $25 for a cd? :picard:
Lol. Bruh. I was the only vol. 3 advocate for the longest. I'm shocked at this recent appreciation of it.

Whoever said that this was the end of Jay being a street nikka was right. After this and during the Dynasty he was in full mogul mode.

I been calling Vol3 a classic since 99, yes within days of it dropping
“You draw, better be Picasso, you know the best, Cause if this is not so, God bless…

Dudes mind was just wired different back then with the double meanings. his money and gun talk was so slick
:wow:

The follow up to that was crazy

You leave me no choice, I leave you no voice
Believe you me son
I hate to do it just as bad as you hate to see it done
Now calm ya boys
Cuz I’m finding it a lil hard to concentrate with all the noise

:wow:

Nah Breh, I remember taking my Bootleg CD and putting that shyt On, hearing and Intro, an Interlude and an Outro that all sounded the same. It also had Jay & Missy doing an early Version of 'Is That Yo bytch?' on it before it was given to Bleek. Then I bought the Store Copy for like $13 and hear everything in much Quality Sound.:ohlawd:

$25?:hhh:

I always had Volume 3 rated as his worst album of his initial run up until The Black Album :hubie:
IDK about his worst until The Black Album, Hov definitely had some Greats before then. There's this little Album he made called Roc La Familia and another 1 called The Blueprint. IMO, you're allowed to argue that Jay dropped Classic Albums and Trash Albums that still had Gems on them. The Ass LPs thay he dropped before and after his retirement still had some Fire Tracks to be heard on them. I didn't rock with Vol. 3 because I was Fresh Off hearing Vol. 2, Vol. 1 and Reasonable Doubt at the time(yes, in that Order). So when I heard Vol. 3 at the time, I really could not understand where that Album's Sound came from. It sounded so different from why I had Discovered with Jigga.:yeshrug: I went from bumping D'Evils, Coming Of Age 1 & 2, Streets Is Watching to hearing Jay with Mariah Carey and Juvenile for features. shyt was :scusthov: to me at the time. Ehh..

where they cross-over and clap boards
So thugs, pop yo' toasters but don't approach us or
Bullets'll chase you like Moet mimosas
Catch us both coasts, racin' twin Porsches
Boxes with Glocks that'll pop ya to make ya ghost-es
Whoever come closest you've been warned
But nikkas don't get the picture till the weapons is drawn

GOAT spittin that gun play over club tracks :wow:

There were several lines that made me :wow:, but the one line that always made me :russ: was "...Hall closet cluttered with heat" - like Jay was in the mirror, choosing hammers that matched his outfit, like an umbrella before he left the crib. Maybe even asking :dame:for his opinion too. :mjlol:

Also the mental image of his housekeeper opening the closet door to put away a pair of sneakers, and a bunch of AR's just spilling out while she's :gucci::why::mindblown:

Like when you find money in your winter coat from last season, he's just finding old bullets and pistols.

He's even got a gun in the hair on the bun on his bytch,
Ask Biggs, everytime he'd go to his crib,
He'd find another gun that Hov hid :damn:

I don't know if the sticker price was $25, but after tax, I think the sticker price at Sam goody was like $19.99
