Always thought the money phone was lame and kind of embarrassing.
But I also thought the initial "30 is the new 20" Jay's "grown man" style of baggy Evisu's, an un-tucked XXL button down shirt and a yankee fitted was lame too.
And DOA didn't do anything. A damn near whole autotune'd album release by his mans a year earlier influenced a lot more rappers than DOA

I always said that about Jay he's like the one dude that mad people take his word as gospel. Shows them the error of their ways. Future was just starting to buzz a little bit (not nation wide but in Atlanta) around the time Jay dropped BP3 / DOA. I remember hearing him on a J-Money / J-Futuristic tape at that time . I actually liked BP3 as a whole and im very critical of Jay-Z but DOA to me was

Jay is a father figure to a lot of people. That's not even a slug. He's telling grown men something that their fathers should have told them. But many of us lacked fathers. Some chose to obtain knowledge on their own and others waited for it to be delivered. That's why you have 36 year old men going
