Realistically most of the legendary rock acts are old or dead so within a decade its going to be mostly rappers getting inducted.
it's all types of artists getting in from all genres, and they're still letting in acts from the 60s-80s, it's not like sports where it's chronological. it will never be mainly rappers

I guess you're right. Certainly more rappers than rock acts though. The last 20 years rock music took a nosedive in quality and popularity, and they're running out of legends. You can't put Wang Chun or Hanson in there, or the credibility of the whole thing is done.

but it's not really a rock HOF anymore, it's all music - you'll have taylor swift, beyonce, blake shelton, etc getting in plus the backlog of 80's-00's rock/alt/grunge groups that aren't in yet and people like mariah aint even in yet. as of late, they only induct 4-8 artists/groups, they've got plenty of ammo
Rock and Roll HOF has basically always really been the Popular Music HOF. Half of the first class of inductees were Black Soul/R&B artists.
i know, which is why it should be renamed, especially since RnR has become synonymous with white people/white music. the name is problematic on multiple fronts (as is the selection committee/process)

What is the criteria? Shyt always seem random unlike sports hall of fame inductions... shouldnt this be done after a retirement?
Most artists never really retire.
Ike Turner should get inducted too
He is along with Tina Turner as a duo.

They're inducting Tina in by herself as a solo act.

The Last of the Outlaws
Rock and Roll includes the blues by their own definition. A large majority of 80’s and up until the mid 90’s hiphop was speaking of the blues in some form or fashion.

If you can hear a song like “regrets” for instance and not be hearing a brother speaking the blues I don’t know what to tell you.

Happy for Jay and LL
