Has anyone here ever been to the 40/40 club?

Of course I live in Atlanta but I never heard of anyone say anything thing about 40/40 outside of Jay z rapping about it.

Been there around the first few years it opened. Walked in and Jermaine Dupri was deejaying. The VIP room I was in was pretty basic with some couches and a pool table. The food was ridiculously overpriced. It's all finger food and one of the famous menu items was PB&J. I thought they'd use some special jams/jellies but that shyt was Skippy and Welch's on some basic ass white bread. They just cut it in triangles. I was telling everyone we could have gone to the store and made what they charged $150 for for $8 :mjlol: . The sliders were wack. Drinks were expensive and full of ice.

Bathrooms were coed which was weird. The downstairs area looked nice but the place was a sports bar but kind of a club so it wasn't laid out properly for either. There was a boxing match so once we left the VIP and went down there the place was packed elbow to elbow. It was hot and so cramped I couldn't breathe. We squeezed our way to the door and left. They definitely had to be violating safety codes by letting that many people in.

People went there because Jay's name was attached to it and you'd see celebrities. It was a complete waste of money.

I worked at Roc Nation and ran the marketing for it at one point.

It was a nice spot.

Perfect description.

The layout of that place was ehhhh at best. The “stair step” configuration seemed like it was a waste of space and you had to go all the way up in order to access the pool tables and the seating area near the bathrooms. The downstairs bar area felt too cramped and every time I passed by there was always an unnecessary line to get in.

I’m sure when it opened it was a big deal but the place honestly was/is forgettable in present day because it doesn’t know if it wants to be a sports bar, chic lounge or a bootleg nightclub. Jay’s name attached to it just isn’t enough for folk to want to go and I wonder if they will truly reopen else where — since the current location is in a solid area: not quite Chelsea and right on the edge of Madison Square Park/Gramercy area

“Who was bigger in 2002? Cam or Hov?”

Hov was still a laughin stock... people forget that Nas made it uncool to even listen to Jay. Had that boy goin through the 5 Stages of Grief.

By default, Cam since The Diplomats were killing the mixtape circuit.

50 was bubbling hot during Summer 2002 as well.

Made sense for Jay to lay low for a couple years(2004-2006)

Cam had the underground poppin while Jay was getting clowned in the mainstream.

Let not forget that.

Jay didnt like Cam because he didnt wanna be outshined by him so he pulled that stunt.

Nah he didn’t like him cause at the time him and dame was having a power struggle. Dame was actively allowing them to wild out and also propping them as the head of the other roc artist Without tell jay.

Cam and then never had no beef, was more a Proxy war fr.

Jay never was getting clowned in the mainstream fr, all the radio host, tv show people and djs was still on his dikk and playing his shyt.

And bp2 was bigger than come home with me in 02. Wasn’t a better album, but was bigger and sold more.

Cam took it upon himself to not let Jay hold his hand..

If State Property had followed that Blueprint(no pun intended), they would have been good like the Dips.

BP2 was a clusterfukk of a album, it was all over the place. My favorite disc was The Gift though.

Album sold more since it was a double disc.
