Most overrated rap artist of all time
How do you have a 15-year long rookie XXL Magazine buzz?
Got 18-year olds out here with 2 Mixtapes and a Billboard charting album and this dude leaning on a Jay co-sign and 3 songs
I’m no mega Nas fan (Illmatic is a classic, IWW, Stillmatic were fire but then it went downhill for me with Nasir being trash) BUT breh puts in WORK. He delivers ALBUMS. He’s an actual artist and he can be your favorite or you can dislike him but you have to respect him.
This guy’s so hyped up, but is basically playing it mega safe by never releasing full projects and uses that to get this allure. “Oh man new Jay Electronica!!”
He knows he can’t drop an album with consistently hot material, so he drip feeds and so many people fall for it.
I’m not listening to this. Make an album and I’ll check it out: which won’t happen anytime soon if ever.
Fam.....he’s a rapper, rappers drop albums, music fans want albums...the endI notice you mentioned making albums and then followed it with a comment about being an "actual artist". I'm just curious why someone has to make an album to be considered that? I realize albums are standard and it's how we've judged musicians for decades....but why does it necessarily have to be that way? I'm not saying you're wrong and I know dude's history and how he turned in an album and Hov said it wouldn't sell so I get it. I'm just saying maybe we gotta stop with this idea that someone can't be great unless they make an album. Art shouldn't have rules and boundaries
Btw Jay Elec was also being wined and dined by Diddy at one point. Let's not forget. They said Puff felt betrayed when he went to Hov and them.
I just felt like throwing his name in the Diddy Pot for fukkery
