@BUSINESS AS USUAL I don't love the Alchemist beat either. I think it's just okay. But but he didn't give this beat to Hov. Jay Elec asked for this beat solo in 2018, and the song was recorded that summer. Jay Elec gave it to Hov as recently as last month to add a verse to.

I'm not a fan of the production on this album, sir. I already said in here that the production is mostly just ok. The rhyming is what saves the album. My point was I bet these dudes acting like this the best album ever will be crickets or singing a different tune in 3 weeks. This AT MOST is a 4/5 album (I'm leaning more towards 3.5) but these dramatic dudes in here acting like it's Manna from Heaven. Predictable Coli first day overhype.

Man you how weekend release hype goes.

This will be viewed as a disappointment when the dust settles Cause it sounds rushed and lazy

the bars aren’t even that crazy. You could’ve predicted the content on this album

Just Blaze got the most coveted hard drive in the game. He and Dre.

Song Cry 2 and all the other Jay joints. A whole project with Game with horror movie samples. A full project with Griselda. Probably a bunch dope Saigon joints.

And obviously who knows how much he did with Jay Elec for Act 2. Do any Coli historians know how they linked up and started working? Did Just introduce Jay Elec to Jay-Z? I'd be interested in knowing more about some of those early Just Blaze and Jay Elec sessions.

I just remember thinking Jay Electronica sounded NOT like an emcee name at all. Exhibit A I heard first and liked it. Exhibit C came through and blew the door off the hinges. Then I waited patiently for full versions of Dear Moleskin, etc. Finally around 2012 I gave up hope and haven't paid much attention. Every now and then I'd hear Elec pop up on PRyhme or something and be randomly and pleasantly surprised.

Is Act 2 even still a project set to be released?

That's damn near his signature style, obscure loops with no drums and it fits the artists perfectly. Only on the coli do you produce for Hov, Jay Elec and be washed

thats why he aint been ish for past 5-6 years..all his bangers and classics are old ..these currency smoke dza type of mcs arent nas kiss mobb 50 fab weezy rae/ghost banks type of rappers that he had placement on all their shyts..he was an a-list producer at one point and now hes a b level guy..i cant remember the last classic single or song that he has produced honestly its been that long

I don’t know how much I like this project. There’s a lot here to like, but it has a scattered and unfinished feel still imo.


We’re in a weird timeline. He got a placement for the first time with Eminem too here in 2020...years since he stopped submitting beats for placements

That's a by product of them working on this in 40 days, 40 nights. He needed more time and maybe a few more tracks to fully flesh it out imo.

Jay is my favorite rapper

and when this was announced I said I can think of 100 rappers I rather Jay do any album with before Jay elect

and everything I was fearing then is what I’ve heard on my 3 listens
