Jason Whitlock: People are afraid to criticize Mike Tomlin because he's black

First, as many posters have said, Tomlin is criticized all the time, especially by Steeler fans.

Second, even if he feels Tomlin should be criticized more, how can he ascribe race as a motive to everyone who doesn't criticize him? There could be many other reasons. The main one being his track record of success, which gets plenty of sports figures passes for questionable behaviour, tactics and even later poor results. On top of that, other black coaches are skewered in the media all the time!

I can only conclude Whitlock is trying to draw attention by stirring the pot in the most base of ways. He doesn't get the attention he wants so he uses his own blackness as cover to get racist white fans on board by openly attacking black sports figures directly via race. It's low and disgusting behaviour. How he can look himself in the mirror is beyond me. What a sorry excuse for a man.

Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of criticisms of Tomlin (believe me, if you follow the Steelers week by week, season by season, you would too) but he is not coddled because he's black. There is a big segment of Steelers fans that CANNOT STAND Mike Tomlin, and have good reasons. Granted a lot of that is quiet now because we're in the second round of the playoffs for the first time in years, but it's still seething right under the surface. Nationally, he doesn't get any heat because the team has never been bad under him. Not because he's black - that's a ridiculous argument

He's on pace to have the same type of career Cowher had.... If he lasts for another 8-9 years

Tomlin went 10-6 after losing his fukking all pro center, top 5 LT, all pro running back, top 5 kicker, his second round pick, and backup qb all for the year, then had to deal with various injuries to his franchise qb, stud young linebacker and D end, backup running back and #2 receiver

Fukk criticism Tomlin deserves way more respect than hes given nationally. But fakkits like whitlock are going to continue piling on him and pressuring our owner to fire him. Fukk offfff

3) Other minority groups benefit from same thing. Media is also scared to criticize Ron Rivera because he's Mexican.

The only reason Mike wasn't really criticized for that game is that burf. Did something boneheaded.

As for Ron this is the only season he hasn't and there was some criticism when he lost the ATL game this year
