Can't see anywhere when sentencing will take pace.

I don't see the judge giving him minimum for every count. I bet he gives him like 10 years on the manslaughter and 6 on battery (all battery concurrent). Judge is a good ol Irish boy.

I haven't followed this with the details of others, did they charge him with first degree murder? I always thought and said the best strategy is to go for lower count with high sentencing range, instead of murder in first degree, which is very hard for a white jury to bring in a guilty verdict on, when they are trying a police officer.

Yeah, the did but could consider lesser charges. So he 2nd degree and a guilty verdict for every shot fired.

@GnauzBookOfRhymes I think the charges are concurrent. Not exactly sure how that works. Maybe some with a legal background can clear that up. I read 6-30 years.

Edit: Just spoke to my bro, he said its a 6-30 on all charges. Whatever the judge sentences him, he will do either 85 or 100% of the time. My brother said he's been in front of the judge a few times and he is an a$$hole. Ppl try to get their cases out of his courtroom. I dont know if thats good or bad

I just on 55 from kedzie right now. I got let go too. I work in finance and they don't tell us shyt but when we was like, where the fukk is everyone? We learned that everyone else already dipped. I work literally 10 minutes from where this occurred. It's a no brainer here.

I work downtown and as soon as they said a verdict was reached, those white folks got the fukk outta there. I stayed to meet up with my ppl just in case it went the other way. CPD was trying to shut the train service down so no one could down there.

2nd degree murder is probation to 20
Battery 6-30 per count but no chance it will be consecutive

I’m sure he is an a$$hole to black and brown defendents lol.

If you noticed the reaction the cop and his attorney seemed relieved. I think they know it’s unlikely the judge is going to really throw the book at him. He’s gonna talk about “all the pressure” we put onto our cops and his lack of a criminal record blah blah blah.

I didnt say it was consecutive. I said concurrent, it will be one sentence for all the charges. The 6-30 years is what legal contributors were saying he was looking at on the local news here. Well thats where I got it from. And yeah, thats basically what my brother was saying. Judge is an a$$hole who throws the book at folks so that made him think the sentence for a police officer will be on the lower end of the whatever range he is looking at.

To be honest I was surprised it ended up guilty! Are you from Chicago originally? I just moved here and as bad of a reputation the city has for corruption and racism, it's actually worse!!

Yeah, born and raised. When I first joined SOHH, I was living in Phoenix, AZ at the time hence the s/n. What part of the city are you in? Outside of the city being segregated, I dont experience any overt racism. And the corruption, yeah its pretty bad.

UIC...I thought he would get around 10 years. They must’ve been extra confident nothing would happen after the acquittals yesterday.
