They definitely casted people with the right backgrounds, all but 2 were from martial arts and the 2 that weren’t were gymnasts which easily translates.

I was curious though on how the original cast from the pilot would’ve done since they never got any run and people forget about them. I don’t even know their backgrounds since they are after thoughts looking back.
I could be wrong, but I believe that it was the same cast from the pilot sans the yellow ranger.

The Green ranger should have replaced Rita as the primary villain of the rangers IMO.

If it was a modern day show with all original footage they probably would have done this.
Because it was slapped together so quickly is what made the show so successful. Change that (and forcing us to buy new toys every year) probably would’ve made it not be as successful since they were CRANKING out the episodes back to back in the day.

True that's why I said if it was a modern show with all original footage lol. Obviously that wouldn't have been logical for the time period. I must say though even in Mighty Morphin they had a lot of new stuff introduced every season especially the zords.

Yeah they def invested their time extremely wisely with the limited Sentai footage they had and the parts they needed to shoot here in the states.
And looking back, the shytty cheesy campiness of the show is really the heart and soul of what makes it great since the show doesn’t take itself overly serious. The target audience is obvious, the acting isn’t over the top Emmy award winning, and the live action karate was about as authentic as you could get for the time with a very positive message to avoid fighting if you can, stand up for what you believe in, and they preached staying in school and staying off drugs.

The only problem with season 1 and the beginning of season 2 is that dragon shield. :deadrose:

You beat me to it I was just saying if it was a modern show with original footage they probably would have done it.
The newer seasons are starting to use more original footage, but still use sentai footage in some aspects namely the zord footage.

Prior though, Saban was notably cheap and looking to cut corners at any turn which is why they moved filming to New Zealand to cut costs.

Yeah I've heard that they are moving further away from using original footage. I haven't watched any power rangers since I think the 25th anniversary lol. As for Saban being cheap yeah that's well know dude is a scum bag imo.

Yeah it was pretty fkn terrible, like….bro you couldn’t find NOBODY to make an EVA foam gold shield? You had somebody make that shyt out of straight cotton cloth? :mjlol:
At least this new season coming out on Netflix is going to have all new original footage outside of the zord fights. It's also been rumored that this upcoming season is going to be the last using any sentai footage and everything else after is going to be all original and back to the OG (American) costumes.

I say American as the OG ones weren’t technically the first rangers lol.
