Wouldn't say biggest fan but like everyone I wanted Naito to get proper respect and a proper run for being one of the most over guys in NJPW for years. And turning EVIL just made a lot of sense considering BC's current circumstances.

What makes no sense is to cut Naito's reign short again and have him lose through BC fukkery again (remember he originally lost the IC belt to Jay White in a match filled with Bullet Club interference as well).

I'm probably more upset by the insane lazy booking of Bullet Club which has consistently brought down actually great matches from the moment there is a ref bump. Which there always is in BC matches, without avail, because Gedo always uses the same lay-out for a BC title match.

That’s why you could hear a pin drop from the moment fake Bushi appeared to the end because after the first interference the crowd realized what was going to happen and just gave up right there and then.

They've made a super heel out of the first dude who was rolling with Naito when LIJ started. EVIL even took some time to fukk up Milano too, just to put the exclamation point on the heel turn.

They've also pretty much (in principle at least) made a new main eventer literally overnight. Before this - I personally didn't see EVIL above NEVER title tier. Now he's the guy who dethroned Naito. . It would be interesting to see where it goes without ref bumps and run-ins, but Bullet Club Fukkery Gonna Bullet Club Fukkery.

Also makes sense why Ibushi and Tana lost tonight - I'm sure they'll be lined up as babyface challengers. I can see Okada finally beating him after the whole angle in the NJ Cup final though.

If EVIL gets a title run that last months and some defenses, I don't think he'd be established like you are saying here. I don't even think he'll be Makabe status in 2010-2013/4. BUT that all depends on how the crowd takes him in the coming months. White is a good comparison because he actually found his character AFTER dropping the belt, not before or while being champ

Now, I still think the most likely scenario is him getting a short, transitional run because the roster is short and Gedo wanted to stirr shyt up. So it's gonna be a harmless swerve in the long run.





Thing is, he gotta be careful because when a Japanese audience doesn't like something, they just stop fukking with it. Years ago Suzuki-Gun went to NOAH for an invasion angle that lasted more than a year that for a western audience it would've been "ohh they making marks mad " but the few hardcore fans NOAH had legit didn't like that shyt and tanked the company deeper than what it already was because they stopped going to shows. NOAH still trying to bring them back, have failed miserably in doing so.

I think New Japan is smart enough to realize this kind of "danger". As we saw how quickly they fell back on that horrible angle they tried to do with management a couple of years ago (or was it last year) and the BC OG. To the point that shyt was forgotten a week after it happened.
