Yeah, the regular 8-man tags on these tours are New Japan's way of not killing guys every night. They'll go harder on the proper build-up tags, but when you see those large stable vs. stable deals, just expect a "professional" effort and you'll look at them differently.

Dylan James defeated Shuji Ishikawa today and leads Block A of the CC :whoo:

This are the standings with 1 more day before they go to Korakuen and decide the winners of each block.

Block A:
1. Dylan James [9]
2. Zeus [8]
3. Shuji Ishikawa [7]
-. Ryouji Sai [7]
-. Yuji Okabayashi
bjw.jpg
[7]
6. Kento Miyahara [6]
-. Gianni Valletta [6]
-. Atsushi Aoki [6]
9. Yuma Aoyagi [4]

Block B:
1. Suwama [8]
-. Naoya Nomura [8]
-. Yoshytatsu [8]
-. Daichi Hashimoto
bjw.jpg
[8]
5. Takashi Yoshida
dgate.jpg
[6]
-. Jake Lee [6]
-. Joel Redman [6]
-. Joe Doering [6]
9. Sam Adonis [4]

Tomorrow is Kento/Sai & Yuji/Aoki for Block A. Lee/Adonis & Doering/Redman for B.

Final day for A has:
Zeus (8) vs. Shuji Ishikawa (7)
Atsushi Aoki (6*) vs. Dylan James (9)
Kento Miyahara (8*) vs. Yuji Okabayashi (9*)

* = my guess given the matches left before Korakuen.

I'm SHOCKED they made Shuji lose and get elimianted before his match with Zeus. Would be really weird if James beats Aoki because that would mean Kento is eliminated before the main event and could only play spoiler to Okabayashi. I still think Yuji gets the big W and advances to the Finals, where he loses to whoever comes out of Block B.

B Block is gonna have a 6 way tie most likely :dead: Final day card would look like this

Daichi Hashimoto (8) vs. Sam Adonis (6*)
Yoshytatsu (8) vs. Takashi Yoshida (6)
Suwama (8) vs. Naoya Nomura (8)
Jake Lee (8* )vs. Joe Doering (8*)

Nomura vs Suwama and Doering vs Lee will be the defacto semis. Daichi got really protected so an L to Adonis in Korakuen wont hurt him at all, same with Yoshi losing to Yoshida to take him out of contention. Jake Lee - who has been a huge disappointment to me this tourney :francis: @SubZeroDegrees - needs Nomura and Suwama to draw because they both have the tie breaker on him.

A lot of interesting scenarios. Lee vs Okabayashi is still an option but it's WAY more wide open than I thought, we could even get a Nomura vs Kento rematch as the Finals :leon:

It reads like the most "diverse" BOSJ in a while.

Why is Ospray there though :dwillhuh: I guess they really are pushing his "openweight" status? If he gets into the G-1 he would be the first one since Millano in 07' to compete in both tournaments in the same year.

I really hope they try to mix things up like this for the G-1 :feedme:

Yeah, English commentary has been putting over Ospreay as being just on the cusp of heavyweight status but not there yet. Good call. He should be in BOSJ.

They also foreshadowed the idea of Shingo doing the BOSJ and then "bulking up" to qualify for G1.

My Gedo troll booking: Ospreay wins the BOTSJ, declares himself a heavyweight, enters the G1, ties for last in his block.

That would mean they'd have to put Yoshi-Hashi, Toa Henare, and like, Mikey Nicolls or some shyt all in the same block. At least we'd know which block to largely ignore. :ehh:

:whoo:

Now THAT'S an idea I can get behind.

Shingo needs to hang with the heavys, he's fukking awesome :blessed:

That's actually pretty traditional booking. I mean, it would depend on his block but normal puro booking would have a newly "graduated" Ospray getting like a couple of wins (1 big one) and a bunch of Ls :yeshrug:

Been waiting for this. No idea why he's been a junior when he's just about as big as Naito.
