I didn't think the match was a letdown because Nakamura was lazy as he usually is :manny: I don't think effort had anything to do with it.

You don't think one half of the match not trying had anything to do with the match being a big nothing? :skip:

They both were trying too much, it was a bunch of back an forth stuff that was impossible to get into, specially after such a long show. I don't see it as lack of effort, I see as misreading what would work :manny: We've seen lazy Nakamura plenty of times, last night that wasn't it.

Crowd just never was there. They had a great open that I thought would lead into an even better match than 1/4 but then skipped straight to a too long and aimless finishing run that was based on them expecting a hot crowd that they weren't going to have to work for. This match was a result of hubris. AJ/Nak is a dream match everywhere in the world other than WWE.

With this heel turn though Naka can finally act out all aspects of this character so going forward we should be in the zone. Him dikkishly stiffing AJ at the end was the first time he was his whole self in years

Had a NJPW main event match in front of a WrestleMania crowd 6 hours into the show. It's not surprising that it didn't quite come off.

Let's see how the feud develops in the coming weeks, then we can figure out whether Nakamura's just stopped caring or not.

There's so much shyt to catch up on, Strong Climb matches finally surfaced after almost 10 days of nothing :francis: when I'm done with it I'll go to the Carnival.

Hideyoshi Kamitani vs. Takuya Nomura

What a fukking tourney for Nomura, and what a start of the year for the young gun. Another very good match, it goes 12 minutes but they pretty much make you feel they did were battling for 20. The only thing that keeps this from being a MOTYC for me is that the selling of body parts - that were worked pretty well and at some point looked that were going to be a part of the story - was non existent. But given that the match is short, it didn't bother me that much. If Naoya Nomura has a CC that's as good as Takuya's Strong Climb's... :whew:

Daichi vs Hama from 4/1 was better than I expected, it had some cool moments.

BTW, does anyone have a link for Daisuke's matches on Wrestlemania Weekend? The guy from VK had his first match in EVOLVE but it was taken down, I only got to see the first few minutes :mjcry: :feedme:

6. Ikkitousen ~ Strong Climb - Semi Final: Hideki Suzuki vs. Yasufumi Nakanoue
7. Ikkitousen ~ Strong Climb - Semi Final: Daisuke Sekimoto vs. Daichi Hashimoto

I can see Hideki orDaisuke winning this, setting up Daichi's first real challenge as a champ. Should be piff :ohlawd:

Daisuke vs Lee was a very good hoss battle, certainly worth a watch :whoo: :obama:

The Riddle match was a fun but they were clearly doing just enough to do well but saving themselves for the matches they were gonna have later.

Tag match was up and down, a little too long for what they were going for but the highs were really good. Didn't help that it had a typical mute EVOLVE crowd though :smh:
