Been digging into the Real Hero AJPW archive:
Billy Robinson/Baba is so good. Prime Baba was something special, on the level of Prime Andre. I loved it when he got a match with a grappler type and would surprise the shyt out of everyone by keeping up. And Robinson is Robinson, so obviously that's good shyt waiting to happen. I love how they repeatedly played up the double count out expectation in the third fall, only to end with a rapid exchange and flash finisher to end it clean. Everyone in the crowd was shocked the first time it didn't end in a double count out, then were POSITIVE it would be a double count out the next time they teased it, then lost their shyt with the real finish. Masterful playing of that crowd that night.
Also young as Stan Hansen vs Destroyer, which is kind of an exhibition bordering on comedy match at times, but is so laid back and enjoyable. Stan's vocalizations during the match are so hilariously cartoonish.
I'll be hoping to cover a lot more 70s AJ stuff in the near future, because god damn do I love 70s AJPW.
